In Nessebar, for the first time in 6 years, the property tax was increased, but it still remains one of the lowest on the Black Sea coast. Tax increased by 1.8 per thousand to 2.2 per thousand - or about 10 euros per property per year. This happened after a 6-year freeze, during which the cumulative inflation in Bulgaria (according to official NSI data) amounted to 41.3%. At its last meeting, the municipal council accepted a proposal from the administration and increased the property tax. Real estate tax is one of the few incomes that enter municipal budgets without a specific purpose and are used by municipalities to implement local policies. In Nessebar, it is used for additional financing of a social program, which is one of the largest in the country - for schools, kindergartens, centers for children with disabilities, "Milk Kitchen", "Social Patronage", cultural programs and others.
